Product Information

PolyMax™ PC-FR is an amazing fire-retardant PC filament that scored V0 in the UL94 flame retardancy test (UL94V-0/1.5 mm). It shows excellent strength, toughness, and heat resistance. Its self-extinguishing feature can reduce fire intensity and slow or stop fire spread, opening up new uses in automotive, railway, and aerospace. Made with Polymaker's Nano-reinforcement technology like PolyMax™ PC, it has these great features: Flame Retardant: It gets V0 performance in the UL94 test, perfect for applications needing material approval. Its self-extinguishing nature helps with fire safety. Fantastic Toughness: Thanks to nano reinforcement technology, it has high fracture toughness and can handle demanding engineering tasks. Heat Resistant: It offers better heat resistance than many materials, with a heat deflection temperature up to 110 ºC (HDT 0.45MPa). Improved Printability: Engineered for compatibility and usability, it has better printability than other PC filaments. An enclosure and a 90°C heated bed are required, and an actively heated chamber is highly recommended. Uncompromised Quality: Polymaker's strict quality control ensures reliable printing and consistency across spools and batches. Printing Settings: Nozzle Temperature: 250°C - 270°C; Build Plate Temperature: 90°C - 105°C; Build Surface Material: Works well with most surfaces like glass and BuildTak®, rigid plates are recommended. Apply Magigoo PC or PVA glue to improve adhesion. Enclosure and heated chamber are highly recommended. Cooling Fan: OFF for most printers, LOW FAN speed may be needed in some heated chambers. Printing Speed: 30 mm/s - 50 mm/s. Retraction settings vary by printer. Recommended Support Material: Self-support. Annealing: For the best performance, anneal printed parts at 90˚C for 2 hours to release internal stress. Specifications: Net Weight: 1kg; Material Type: PC-FR; Density: 1.19 (g/cm3 at 21.5˚C). Compatibility: It's designed for 3D printing but needs a heated bed and enclosure. An actively heated chamber gives the best results. Test calibration prints before big projects.

Using PolyMax™ PC-FR is easy. First, set your printer's nozzle temperature between 250°C and 270°C, and the build plate temperature between 90°C and 105°C. Apply Magigoo PC or PVA glue to the build surface to make the filament stick better. You'll need an enclosure and it's really good to have an actively heated chamber. Most of the time, keep the cooling fan off, but in some heated chambers, you might need a low fan speed. Print at a speed of 30 to 50 mm/s. The retraction settings depend on your printer. For direct drive, try a 1mm retraction distance at 20mm/s, and for Bowden, 3mm at 40mm/s. It can usually support itself during printing. Before you start printing, pre - heat your build plate for 20 - 30 minutes, longer in cold climates. After printing, for the best results, anneal your parts at 90˚C for 2 hours. This gets rid of the internal stress that builds up during printing. When storing the filament, keep it in a dry place to avoid moisture affecting the print quality. And remember, different printers might need some adjustments to the settings, so do some test prints first.
