PETG is a great choice for 3D printing. It's nearly as easy to print as PLA but offers many mechanical properties that PLA can't match. The 'G' in PETG stands for Glycol, added during manufacturing. Glycol makes it easier to print, less brittle, and clearer in semi - transparent variants. With low thermal expansion, it rarely warps even when printing large objects without an enclosure. Also, it's ductile and can flex under pressure, preventing parts from breaking.
Unlike PLA or ABS, PETG may ooze a bit and leave plastic strings on your print. But you can reduce this by increasing retraction and adjusting the hotend temperature. Our filament presets in Slic3r or Prusa Control have already optimized this, minimizing stringing. If you still see a little stringing, a quick blast with a heat gun on your finished print can fix it.
If you can handle the oozing and strong adhesion, you'll get a very durable print that can resist high temperatures and is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
What Can You Expect?
- Manufactured In - House by Josef Prusa: Dissatisfied with market filaments, Prusa Research, the only 3D printer manufacturer with its own filament production, decided to make its own.
- Premium - Grade Materials and Thorough Testing: Every step of the manufacturing process is closely monitored and tested for diameter, color consistency, and mechanical properties to ensure each spool is perfect.
- ± 0.03 MM Manufacturing Precision: We believe the 0.05 mm industry standard isn't enough for perfect 3D printing. So, we guarantee ±0.03mm precision and consistent colors in our filaments.
- High Quality You Can Check Yourself: We're the only manufacturer that lets you fully inspect each filament spool's parameters. Just scan the QR code on the spool to see all details online.

Using Prusament PETG 3D printing filament is easy. First, load the filament into your 3D printer following the printer's instructions. Make sure to set the right temperature for your printer, and you can use our presets in Slic3r or Prusa Control to make it simpler.
When printing, be aware that PETG may ooze a bit and leave some plastic strings. If this happens, you can increase the retraction settings or adjust the hotend temperature. Our presets have already minimized this issue, but if there's still a little stringing, use a heat gun to quickly get rid of it.
Since PETG has strong adhesion, it might be a bit challenging to remove the print from the bed. Be careful when taking it off to avoid damaging the print or the printer bed.
For maintenance, keep the filament in a dry and cool place. Exposure to moisture can affect the quality of the filament. If you're not using it for a long time, seal it properly. And remember, if you have any questions during the process, don't hesitate to contact us.
